Fougeres

Fougeres is a good-sized town in Ille-et-Vilaine in eastern Brittany. It is just a few kilometres from the border with Normandy. There is a splendid old castle right in the heart of town as well as scores of ancient houses. In the oldest part of town, just below the castle, there are mediaeval streets and wash-houses.

In the middle of town is a decent but not flash restaurant called 'Le Buffet'. Another good restaurant is 'Le Bretagne'.
