Ouessant

Ouessant (Ushant in English) is an island of 15 square kilometres in the regional natural park of Armorica, in Finistere. Together with the neighbouring island of Molene, the archipelago was classified in 1989 as a World Nature Reserve by Unesco.

The island has steep cliffs all around - the highest is 60 metres - and the population used to depend on farming and deep sea fishing for its income, as there was no all-weather harbour for frequent returns to port.
